When the opportunity arose recently to buy The Scamp Motor Company, complete with a history dating back to 1969, enthusiasts Matt, Robin and Fraser jumped at it.<\/p>\n

They are delighted to have over from Andrew MacLean thus continuing the successive ownership and operations dating back to 1969 when Robert Mandry founded it.<\/p>\n

Andrew has owned the company since 1987, during which time he has built up a business which can rightly be described as one of the most iconic kitcar companies.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A spokesperson told me: \u201cIt was the launch of the Mk3 in the kitcar press that initially caught our interest in the Scamp. That interest resulted in a factory visit in 1992 where we drove the famous \u2018ANJ\u2019 demo car and soon after placed an order with Andrew.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would like to thank Andrew for everything that he has done over the years; from getting us into \u2018Scamping\u2019 over thirty years ago right through to the transition to our ownership, where he has been extremely supportive.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is retaining the RTV and other non-Scamp-related parts of his business so please still get in touch with him if that is what you are after. Andrew leaves an amazing legacy of which he is rightfully very proud. It has been a pleasure to work with him and to be regaled with the many stories he has shared.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very excited about the future of the Scamp Motor Company and plan on continuing to support existing owners with new frames, panels (for those \u2018where did that tree come from\u2019 moments!), sub-assemblies, fuel tanks, etc. The new Suzuki Jimny-based Mk4x4 is also taking shape with several currently in production in Crawley, West Sussex before operations move west to the Scamp Motor Company\u2019s new home in South East Wales.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company says that they will be designing a Scamp Mk5 in due course\u00a0along\u00a0with the launch of some merchandise.<\/p>\n
