The ratio of first gear has been lowered from a short 3.65:1 to a much more useable 2.98:1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p\">These gearboxes have been reconditioned, but to Ford\u2019s exacting O.E. Standards. This includes a brand new mainshaft first gear and a layshaft cluster that has been modified and fitted with a new first gear. The remaining gears are as original.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p\">The Type 9 gearbox (also referred to as a &#8216;Type N&#8217; gearbox in some workshop manuals) was the original fitment on Ford Capri Mk3, Granada Mk2, Granada\/Scorpio Mk3, Sierra 1.6\/1.8 \u00a02.0 and Transit Mk3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p\">In addition it can also be used on older Fords to convert them from four to five speed as well as other classic makes such as MG and Triumph.
